In fact, in a study, participants were woken up at the beginning of every dream but were still allowed to have 8 hours of sleep. The study showed that all of the participants had difficulty concentrating, hallucinations, irritability and other signs of psychosis in the short span of three days. We only dream during the REM periods (Rapid Eye Movement periods) of our sleep. This happens multiple times in just one night. Each cycle of dream starts to get longer than the previous one. Your first dream is about 5 minutes long and your last dream just before waking up is about 45 minutes long. You may be thinking that you don’t remember having so many dreams in just a single night, but the fact is you forget most of your dreams after waking up.
